What you get
- Gratin on all your devices, before anyone else. On iPhone and iPad it comes through Apple's TestFlight app, on Android through Google Play, and on Mac and Windows as a download.
- Free sync for life. Everyone else will pay for sync after launch. You won't, and that includes shared recipe books and the Claude and ChatGPT connection.
- Email me directly. I make Gratin on my own, so I read every email and I'm the one who fixes things.
What we're working on next
Recent work from tester suggestions includes a recipe reading view with a separate Edit button, ingredients and steps you can tick off, and a choice of cooking views. Your ticks stay on the device you're cooking with.
There's also an English and German interface, recipe video links, imports from MealMaster and MasterCook text exports, and moving meals between days. These changes are implemented but still being checked for the next release; they aren't being claimed as available in the current beta.
What I'm asking
- Cook with it for a couple of weeks. Bring your recipes over, save a few from the web, cook from it and make a grocery list.
- Tell me when something's wrong. Gratin doesn't track you or send crash reports, so I only find out about problems when someone emails me. A screenshot helps.
- No surveys and no marketing emails.
How it works
- Fill in the form with the devices you use.
- I’ll email you a link for each device, plus an invite to the testers’ group if you want it.
- Bring your recipes over, cook with it, and email me when something’s off.
- When Gratin launches, you keep everything, free sync included. There's nothing to move.
Questions
Is it safe to put my real recipes in?
Yes, with the usual beta caveat. Your recipes are saved on your own device, and you can export all of them, photos included, from Settings → Data. Keep your old app around until you trust this one.
Do I need an account?
No. You only need one to sync between devices or to connect Claude or ChatGPT. Testers' sync stays free after launch.
I use Paprika. Will my recipes come across?
Yes. Go to Settings → Data → Import Recipes and sign in to your Paprika account, or use a Paprika export file. Your recipes, photos, notes and folders come across, and your Paprika library isn't changed.
What do Android testers need?
An Android phone or tablet, and the email address of the Google account it uses for the Play Store. Google only lets listed accounts into a test, so put that address in the form.
What happens when the beta ends?
Nothing changes for you. Your recipes stay on your devices, the app stays free, and your sync stays free for as long as Gratin exists.
